     Francis Vernon Willey, 2nd Baron Barnby was born on 29 September 1884 at Bradford, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Francis Willey, 1st Baron Barnby and Florence Chinnock.1 He married Banning Grange, daughter of William Drayton Grange, on 20 November 1940.3 He died on 30 April 1982 at age 97, without issue.4
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was in the firm of Francis Willey & Company.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1913 in the Sherwood Rangers (Nottinghamshire Yeomanry.)1 He fought in the First World War, serving in Egypt and Gallipoli.1 He was Assistant Director of the Ordnance Stores in 1916.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel in 1916.1 He held the office of Controller of Wool Supplies between June 1916 and 1920, under the War Department.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1918.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Unionist) for South Bradford between 1918 and 1922.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was Master of the Blankney Hunt between 1919 and 1933.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel on 12 October 1924.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1928.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Barnby, of Blyth, co. Nottingham [U.K., 1922] on 16 February 1929.1 He was a director of Lloyds Bank.1
