     George Poyntz Ricketts was born on 10 July 1774 at Grove Place, Nursling, Hampshire, England.¹ He was the son of George Poyntz Ricketts and Sophia Watts.¹ He married Sophia Sarah Jane Pierce on 23 February 1800 at Caluctta, India.¹ He died on 29 April 1815 at age 40 at Bengal, India.¹

     Mary Anne Sturt is the daughter of Charles Sturt and Lady Mary Anne Ashley-Cooper.¹ She married Reverend Frederick Poyntz Ricketts, son of George Poyntz Ricketts and Sophia Watts.¹
     Her married name became Ricketts.¹

     Lady Mary Anne Ashley-Cooper was the daughter of Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 4th Earl of Shaftesbury and Hon. Mary Bouverie.¹ She married Charles Sturt, son of Humphrey Sturt and Mary Pitfield, on 14 April 1788.¹ She died on 8 July 1854.²
     From 14 April 1788, her married name became Sturt.¹
