Marianne Francis was the daughter of Major Wolstan Francis.2 She married, firstly, Captain John Theodore Martin Mee before 1953.1 She married, secondly, Sir John Frederick Shelley, 10th Bt., son of Lt.-Col. Sir John Shelley, 9th Bt. and Marion Emma Benyon, on 28 October 1953.1 She died on 18 February 1974.1
She gained the rank of Major in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.1 From before 1953, her married name became Mee.1 From 28 October 1953, her married name became Shelley.1
