     He was a practising barrister.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He lived at Deacon's Hill, Hertfordshire, England.¹

     Godfrey Thornton was born on 16 October 1737.² He was the son of Godfrey Thornton and Margaret Astell.² He married Jane Godin, daughter of Stephen Peter Godin, on 31 July 1766.² He died on 12 November 1805 at age 68.²

     Joanna Margaret Spicer was born on 7 June 1968.¹ She is the daughter of David Bethune Spicer and Hon. Sarah Margaret Watkinson.¹ She married David William Fox-Pitt, son of Captain Edward Arthur Mervyn Lane Fox-Pitt and Janet Mary Scrymgeour-Wedderburn.¹
