     Catherine Hay was born on 9 February 1794.¹ She was the daughter of Robert Hay and Catherine Babington.¹ She married Vice-Admiral Alexander Renton Kirkpatrick Sharpe, son of Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe and Eleanora Renton, on 27 February 1821 at Spott, East Lothian, Scotland^G.¹ She died on 26 October 1838 at age 44.¹
