Eyre Burton Powell was born in 1819 at Ireland.1 He was the son of Eyre Burton Powell.1 He married Elizabeth Hamilton Matilda de Jourions Langley, daughter of Major Edward Archer Langley, on 9 January 1846 at Madras, India.2 He died on 10 November 1904 at Wandsworth, Surrey, England.1
He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1840 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was a clerk in 1848 at High School, Madras, Madras, India.1 He was headmaster at High School, Madras, Madras, India.1 He was Director of Public Instruction, Madras Presidency between 1862 and 1875.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1866.1
