Sir John Foulis of Ravelston, 1st Bt. was born on 20 February 1638.1 He was the son of George Foulis and Jean Sinclair.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Primrose, daughter of Sir Archibald Primrose, Lord Carrington and Elizabeth Keith, on 5 September 1661.2 He married, secondly, Agnes Dundas, daughter of Walter Dundas of Dundas and Lady Christian Leslie, on 28 August 1690.2 He married, thirdly, Mary Murray, daughter of John Murray of Polmaise, on 29 March 1697.1 He married, fourthly, Agnes Scot on 7 September 1705.1 He died on 5 August 1707 at age 69.1
He was created 1st Baronet Foulis, of Ravelston [Nova Scotia] on 15 October 1661.1 He purchased Woodhall, Juniper Green in 1701.1
