David Ogilvy, 3rd Earl of Airlie1

     David Ogilvy, 3rd Earl of Airlie was born between 1634 and 1664. He was the son of James Ogilvy, 2nd Earl of Airlie and Helen Ogilvy.1 A contract for the marriage of David Ogilvy, 3rd Earl of Airlie and Lady Grizel Lyon was signed on 8 May 1696.1 He died in 1717.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 17 August 1727.2
     In 1664 under the care of George Halyburton, later Bishop of Dunkeld.3 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Ogilvy of Alith and Lintrathen, co. Forfar [S., 1639] in 1704. He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Airlie [S., 1639] in 1704.1 He succeeded as the 9th Lord Ogilvy of Airlie [S., 1491] in 1704. His last will was dated 22 March 1716.2 On his death, the Earldom of Airlie, due to the attainder of his son and heir, became under attainder.4

Charles Gordon, 2nd Earl of Aboyne1

     Charles Gordon, 2nd Earl of Aboyne was born in 1669/70.2 He was the son of Charles Gordon, 1st Earl of Aboyne and Lady Elizabeth Lyon.1 He married Lady Elizabeth Lyon, daughter of Patrick Lyon, 3rd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Lady Helen Middleton.1 He died in April 1702.1
     He purchased Kirktoun of Birse from Robert Farquharson of Kirktoun of Birse.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Aboyne [S., 1660] in March 1681.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Gordon of Strathavon and Glenlivet [S., 1660] in March 1681.4 He was educated on 10 April 1681 at Douai School, Upper Woolhampton, Reading, Berkshire, EnglandG.5 On 27 July 1698 although he was raised a Papist, he qualified himself for his seat in the House by declaring himself a Protestant.1
     James, Earl of Perth, called him in 1694, "a most sweet youth and humble like the dust of the street."1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.6

Patrick Kinnaird, 3rd Lord Kinnaird1

     Patrick Kinnaird, 3rd Lord Kinnaird was the son of Patrick Kinnaird, 2nd Lord Kinnaird and Hon. Anne Fraser.1 He married, firstly, Henrietta Maria Murray, daughter of Charles Murray, 1st Earl of Dunmore and Catherine Watts, in 1702.1 He married, secondly, Lady Elizabeth Lyon, daughter of Patrick Lyon, 3rd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Lady Helen Middleton, between 1703 and 1710.2 He died on 31 March 1715.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Kinnaird, of Inchture, co. Perth [S., 1682] on 18 February 1701.1

Alexander 'Cathanach' Macdonald1

     Alexander 'Cathanach' Macdonald was born before 1484. He was the son of Sir Ian 'Cathanach' Macdonald and Sheila Savage.1 He married Katherine MacDonnell, daughter of John MacIan MacDonnell.1 He died in 1538 at Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland.1,2
     After 1494 he fled to Ireland after the execution of his father and 4 brothers.1 In 1517 he supported Sir Donald MacDonald of Lochalash against the government.1 In 1529 he again rebelled and ravaged the lands of the Campbells.1 In 1531 he and his followers were pardoned and granted lands in the South Isles and Kintyre.1 In 1532 he was sent to Ireland with 8000 men to assist the Scots in Ulster against the English.1

     Robert Stuart, 7th Lord Blantyre was the son of Alexander Stewart, 5th Lord Blantyre and Anne Hamilton.1 He married, firstly, Lady Helen Lyon, daughter of John Lyon, 4th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Stanhope, in 1714.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Hay, daughter of Hon. William Hay and Hon. Elizabeth Seton, after 1714.2 He died on 17 November 1743 at Lennoxlove, East Lothian, ScotlandG.2 He was buried at Blantyre, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in 1713 in the Regiment of Foot.1 He was Fort Major of the Fort St. Philip, Minorca in 1713.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Blantyre [S., 1606] on 23 June 1723.1

     He lived at Shottisham Park, Norwich, Norfolk, England.1

Sir Francis James Cecil Bowes-Lyon was born on 19 September 1917 at Chelsea, London, England.3,4 He was the son of Captain Geoffrey Francis Bowes-Lyon and Edith Katherine Selby-Bigge.3 He married Mary de Trafford, daughter of Sir Humphrey Edmund de Trafford, 4th Bt. and Hon. Cynthia Hilda Evelyn Cadogan, on 22 April 1941.3 He died on 18 December 1977 at age 60.3,4
     Maj.-Gen.
