Edward Goulburn was born in 1787.2 He was the son of Munbee Goulburn and Hon. Susannah Chetwynd.2 He married, firstly, Harriette de Visme, daughter of Philip Nathaniel de Visme, in 1815.2 He married, secondly, Hon. Esther Chetwynd, daughter of Richard Chetwynd, 5th Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven and Charlotte Cartwright, on 13 August 1825.3 He married, thirdly, Hon. Catherine Montagu, daughter of Matthew Montagu, 4th Baron Rokeby and Elizabeth Charlton, in 1831.1 He died on 24 August 1868 at 62 Upper Seymour Street, Portman Square, London, EnglandG.2
He gained the rank of Cornet on 9 July 1803 in the Royal Horse Guards.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 15 December 1804.2 He wrote the book The Blueviad, published 1805, a satirical poem, for which he was sued for libel.2 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1815.2 He was a practising Serjeant-at-Law in 1829.2 He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 4 June 1845 with a Doctor of Civil Laws (D.C.L.)2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2
