John Stuart Stuart Forbes was born on 28 May 1849 at Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He was the son of Charles Hay Forbes and Jemima Rebecca MacDonell.1 He died on 25 June 1876 at age 27 at Little Big Horn, Montana, U.S.A., killed in action.1
He was also known as John Stuart Hiley.1 He was given the name of John Stuart Forbes at birth.1 In 1866 his name was legally changed to John Stuart Stuart Forbes.1 He supposedly left England to escape gambling debts.1 He gained the rank of Private on 20 January 1872 in the Company E.1 He fought in the Battle of the Little Big Horn on 25 June 1876.1
