Sir William Spring, 1st Bt. was born in 1613.2 He was the son of Sir William Spring and Elizabeth Smith.1 He married Elizabeth le Strange, daughter of Sir Hamon le Strange and Alice Stubbe.1 He died on 17 December 1654.1,2
He lived at Pakenham, Suffolk, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Knight by King Charles I.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1641.2 He was created 1st Baronet Spring, of Pakenham, Suffolk [England] on 11 August 1641.1 He was a supporter of Parliament during the Civil War.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bury St. Edmunds between 1645 and 1648, when he was secluded by Pride's Purge.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Suffolk in 1654.2

William Macdowall, 17th of Garthland was the son of Alexander Macdowall, 16th of Garthland and Jean Fergusson.2 He died in 1775, unmarried.1
