     Colonel Charles William Ernest Duncombe was born on 15 March 1862.2 He was the son of Hon. Cecil Duncombe and Eleanor Jane Mills.1,2 He married, firstly, Lilian Bertha Stuart-Wortley, daughter of Archibald Stuart-Wortley and Nellie Bromley, on 8 February 1890.2 He married, secondly, Frances Adelaide Villiers, daughter of Reverend Henry Montagu Villiers and Lady Victoria Russell, on 26 July 1910.1 He died on 8 May 1945 at age 83, without issue.2
     Colonel Charles William Ernest Duncombe usually went by his middle name of William.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the North Riding, Yorkshire.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the North Riding, Yorkshire.2 He gained the rank of Boer War between 1900 and 1901.2 He was Lieutenant-Colonel and Honorary Colonel of the Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry between 1908 and 1912.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1918.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)2 He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)2

     Colonel Sir Philip Ainslie of Pilton was born in 1728.2 He was the son of George Ainslie and Jean Anstruther.2 He married Hon. Elizabeth Gray, daughter of John Gray, 11th Lord Gray and Margaret Blair, on 15 March 1772 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He died in 1802.2
     He was educated at Westminster School, London, England.2 He was commissioned in 1754.2 He was appointed Knight on 25 February 1778.2 He retired from the military in 1786.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel of Cavalry in the Portugese Army.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 7th Dragoons.2 He lived at Pilton, Midlothian, ScotlandG.3
