     General Sir Rowley Sale-Hill was born on 6 November 1839.2 He is the son of Rowley John Hill and Caroline Catherine Sale.2 He married Caroline Sophia Sale, daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Henry Sale, on 30 March 1873.2 He died on 23 March 1916 at age 76.2
     He was given the name of Rowley Sale Hill at birth.2 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.2 He fought in the Bhutan Expedition.2 He fought in the Hazara Expedition.2 He fought in the Afghan War.2 He fought in the Malay Expedition.2 He fought in the Akha Expedition.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the 1st Gurkha Rifles (Majaun Regiment.)2 In 1889 his name was legally changed to Rowley Sale-Hill.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)2

Hester Frances Smith.3,4 She married General John Studholme Brownrigg, son of John Studholme Brownrigg and Elizabeth Casamaijor, on 11 September 1840.1 She died in 1881 at Staines, London, England.2
     From 11 September 1840, her married name became Brownrigg.3
